Hi all,
Im looking for idea's on where to find props/ways to position little people who cant sit by themselves yet. After paying for some portraits at a department store portrait studio, I've been slowy trying to find and acquire a few basic things to help with infant shooting so I wont have to rely on someone else. I also have infant neices and other misc bebe's that I want to shoot for. Thanks in advance for any ideas! |

lakeith, i highly recommend trying to do it yourself. imo it is easy easy easy to do better than the dept store folks. here are some of my thoughts:
do you have a bumbo? you can seat the baby in that, or cover it w a neutral cloth and then seat baby in it- even a young one can be upright in those- mine could by 6 weeks. carseat- is great- even in the car- esp when they recline a bit and the carseat is near the door, so natural lighting- i have gotten some great catchlights in my kids' eyes. you can take off the seatbelt or have the child hold a stuffed animal if you don't want the shoulder straps to show i've seen some nice shots where baby is lying on top of a pile of folded towels, or nestled in a wash basket or wicker basket. (non-movers, of course) i have some good ones of my young babes over someone else's shoulder you can lie them on their tummies on the bed, propped up on a rolled towel or on their own hands and shoot eye to eye, face to face have the parent stand with her back to you and hold baby up with arms outstretched- get some parent, but focus on baby's eyes i have a back carrier called the ergo- i have some sweet ones of my babies resting their heads on dad's back and gazing with head turned to the side nursing or just having nursed- esp skin to skin- are sweet. probably only for your own little ones that's all i can think of for now. hth oh, one more thing. you see a fair amount of props- hats, teddy bears, etc. give those a shot, too |
