Looking for ideas

Okay, here's the deal...

A friend is an amateur musician who is getting ready to put out his first CD on a local label to save money I have volunteered to take the picture for the cover...

Since he is a bluegrass musician with 2 others in the band I need ideas that I can use that are not "done to death"...

We are planning on taking the pics in a local area since that is where he gets the inspiration for the songs he writes...

We will be using a 1967 Chevy truck in some of the pics along with a road sign and an old store building that has a long porch...I would like to take some pics of the group with their instruments and some without...

One idea is of him sitting on the tailgate with his guitar and the others in the bed of the truck maybe sitting on crates....

Any advice on poses and such...we will probably be taking the photos in the early to late afternoon so lighting should be no problem...and we are also looking at using black and white and sepia tones....

I would look into other photographers that specialize in band shoots.

I would look for a location/composition that is indicative of this...reflecting the theme of the album or prominent song. (i.e. next to a river if the "hit" has to do with a river; instead of crates use hay bales with the truck in a field next to one of those giant bales if the overall theme is "country boys", etc)

Actually, the CD title and first song to be released are the city name on the road sign....

Now here is the rub....another local group overheard our plans for the group, used part of the name of the group for theirs, and used the idea we had for the cover...so now we are having to change it up that is the reason I am looking for ideas they haven't used....
