Default Trash the dress question

How does one take a photo such as this without injuring or even killing the person in the photo?
It has to be some sort of camera trick? You think?
I just stumbled on this through a google search. My neice is having a trash the dress shoot (with a pro, not me) and I was trying to show her that they don't really have to destroy the dress if she doesn't want them to. But this is not a good example of not destroying the dress.

Camera on tripod. Shoot bride, move bride safe distance.

Put a post in the ground, apply gasoline with a trail off to the right. Ignite.

Merge photos.

At least that is how I would do it.

Photoshopped. Either that or the bride is a stuntwoman

You can see from the photo that it is almost how they did it. The flame covering her dress and arm is a photoshop clone. It's quite easy to tell that from looking at the picture.

That's the object of most trash the dress sessions. To "trash" the dress. If she doesn't want to get the dress dirty then it isn't really a "Trash the Dress" session. It would be a bridal photo shoot after the wedding.

I know. She is hesitant to actually have the dress destroyed, as I am sure a lot of brides are. I have encouraged her to either go buy a separate cheap dress for the shoot or to ask the photographer to tone it down a bit, maybe a little dirt and water, nothing that can't be taken care of with a good dry cleaning.

I've seen quite a few TTD shots on the beach, trashing the dress in the surf - nothing a good clean wouldn't sort out, and some good dramatic shots.
