Default Help with baby pictures please!

Hello,

So here is the story. Within the next few days I will have a newborn nephew and a newborn brother. Strange coincidence I know. I have done a few babies before, but I have exhausted my ideas of simple, yet professional poses. Now with two babies on the way, I would like to have different setups for each child. This is my first attempt, It came out nicely but the pose was not difficult.

New Family!

If you could provide me with some good ideas of professional, simple poses that would be amazing. Both of these shoots are for family so I am really looking to get some good shots. Also, I will be doing the shoots between the age of 1-2 weeks old. Nothing after.

Thanks in advance!

I'm not a pro but I've done a million baby photos.

Some of the one's people like best are close-ups: eyes, mouth, ears, toes, fingers. They are SO small for such a short time and we can forget how small they were.

Do some when baby is sleeping.

Also colour is generally more popular than B&W but do both.

Keep the lighting as natural as possible.

Include parents and siblings but still stay close, eg baby holding Dad's finger or Mum's lips against baby's ear.

Anne Geddes' style is cliche but lots of people like it (maybe that's what makes it cliche?) so you could ask if they would like that kind of set-up, as long as you have the right props.

Good luck!
Ian

Do a search on Flickr for newborns. You'll find gazillions of images you can draw inspiration from. Good luck!
