Default Office Shot

I've been asked to take some pictures for internal comminucations brief documents of staff in full flow of imparting / absorbing knowledge / casual office chat. The sort of manager siiting casually on the corner of a desk in the office with the loyal staff hanging of every word. I thought of going for the shot across the office as opposed to an up close to try to get a feel of environment.

My question, should I try to go for a narrow DOF to get just the subjects in or try to get most of the office too?

If any one has any experience of publicity material of this nature any advice would be warmly received

Narrow DoF would be a more typical choice so that is clear where attention is focused. Don't forget to make sure that lighting and composition reinforce that sense of focus; those are probably more important visual tools than softening the background.

As another tip, take some time to tidy up your "stage" before you start shooting. I'm looking round my office and I can see lots of clutter that would be best removed if I was taking the kind of shots I think you are after.
