Trap/Zone focusing is pre-focusing on a given point, then locking the focus. So you figure out where your subject WILL be (usually by a dry run) and focus there, then lock the focus on that spot.

Trap focus with a Nikon is an unusual feature...you prefocus on a spot and then move the frame to where nothing is in focus..then press for release, as soon as something comes into focus the camera fires... With Canon or any other brand Trap is the same as Zone and it is as Os described...manual focus on a spot and wait for the subject to get there...

simply place your subjects at the location where you will be shooting them, focus or focus lock on that distance, and/or put the lens in manul mode from here to lock the focus. (dont change the subject distance now or your focus will be off)
