Hello !
I am not certain why this photo on her nose has a softness to it. I thought i had all of my setting perfect! guess not- any suggestions? Thank you! Nikon D70 Raw 200 ISO 1/125 F5.6 28-80mm@ 68mm girl 1 200 1_125 f 5.6 28-80@68mm.jpg |

Very tired and my eyes are ready for bed, but to me it looks like your focus was off.
Her whole face, eyes included, seem soft, while the hair round just behind her ears seems to be in focus - looks like your focus point was too far back. This could be from a simple miscalculation, or a lens that back focuses. Just my take, but I do need sleep! Ben |

I agree, it looks to me like the camera focused on the net behind her head instead of directly on her face. This is very easy to do, I have many photos like it. I always take two or three of everything so for every photo where the focus/exposure/composition slips, I have one that works.

I'll complete the chorus: focus was missed. It focused on the net, not her face. Check which focus point you were using.
