Smile Best settings for Makeup photography?

Hi, I searched the forums for posts about this but i couldnt find any, so im sorry if its already been asked.

I am new to photography, so im not sure about manual modes (everything about them is daunting to me, as much as i try to learn about them.. i get lost) but i really enjoy doing makeup for the portraits i take but everytime i try taking photos outdoors or with natural light, i can never see the makeup in photos.. or i see it but its faint even if i cake on stage makeup.

I was just wondering what the best settings (or roughly) what mode on my camera to use and what settings so i can play around and try to work it out hah.

Thanks in advance!

You're likely to have better luck indoors with flash than outdoors. The sun is simply too powerful.

Georgia,

Our eyes can see over 1 million shades of colors. The sensor in our cameras records about 60 and the computer screen or photographic paper can record about 40. That is why you cannot see the minor differences in the make up. Our eyes see very very very very light pink and very very very light pink, very very light pink, very light pink, and pink. The sensor sees one shade of pink.
