Default 7 month old shoot and props????

I'm shooting a 7 month old next week and have my indoor setup ready to go - seamless paper and backdrop, faux floor, etc a basket, furry rugs........and a brown stuffed bunny I want most of the shots to be natural and simple but know at his age he could and might be crawling so I will need some backup ammo to keep him busy if need be. I am drawing a blank at some quick and inexpensive ideas I can use as prop/distractions. Should I ask mom if he has a neat train, books, stuffed animal, etc that he really likes, or is there something else I could bring along?

Bubbles! Have mom or dad blow bubbles above and behind you. Another trick I heard on a Sandy Puc' webinar that I loved is this - she had a bowl of Cheerios when shooting a bunch of babies (triplets I think?) and to get them to stay in one place, she'd toss Cheerios at them one at a time. They were so busy looking for them they didn't crawl away.

A fast shutter speed will be your friend, too.

Try giving them a piece of sticky tape. It sticks to their fingers and they can often sit quietly for a brief time try to take it off.
