*** NEW*** Need Help With Portraits

Hello Everyone!

So I am new to photography as well as this forum. I could really use your help. I want to get into doing portraits and weddings.

I will be doing my first session this in two weeks on a trial run with myself and my boyfriend. Can you recommend any good tips to help out and what setting and functions are best to be used.

I have a Canon Rebel XSI.

Thank you that was very helpfull. I don't have many accessories yet to do different things so I will use the idea of foam board. I can't wait to shoot I am very excited.

I will be shooting outdoors. I am going to visit him in Memphis and theres are a lot of "run" down cool areas to shoot at. I want the rustic look. (if that is the right term)
