Question Help with settings...

I have been asked to photograph a birthday party...Lots of people attending!
I have Rebe XSi with a 15 -55 mm lens.
May be low lighting, and constant moving.

Yes still an amateur...

Thanks in advance

Dont expect much in terms of photos. You're gonna be either up against the ISO limit of your camera or using flash.

Tell them you will do it for free. If they pay nothing, they will not expect much, but if they pay you they will expect lots more than what you can give them as an untrained amateur.

Believe me I've seen hundreds of snapshot shooters who believe their mothers who say "you take such pretty pitchurs, why in a couple more weeks you will be a professional." So they get pumped up and charge for a shoot. After the client sees the images she deflates their pumped up ego real quick.

i would definitely use my flash......

if you have a speedlight, experiment in advance with bouncing off the ceiling or walls......if yours is an onboard flash, consider dialing it down til it suits your subjects or make a small business card flash....

i would also prepare yourself with using manual mode.....i would suggest a good starting point of f5.6 or f7and a shutter of 60,

good luck!
