Default Would love a critique

Hi all. This is my first post in this forum. I'm considering including this in my portfolio in the "children" gallery. What do you think????? Is there anything wrong with it and what can I improve? Thanks!

LoVe

Overall it's a nice shot but I don't like the boy's hand that is on the left side.
I wold like to hear what others have to say.

Can you post your EXIF, please? Looks like the boy is in focus but the girl is quite soft.

Yeah, shooting wide open with two subjects can be tricky. Check out the DOF calculator.

The lighting on the boy is lovely and his eyes are nice and bright with good catchlights. The girl is a little too shadowed and I'd like to see more light in her eyes. Not wild about the arm chop on the boy, but otherwise it's a very cute pose!

Very nice color, the skin tones are great.

Sharpen the little girl a little and post it.

I think it's adorable but since you're looking for critique on a photo to go into a gallery I'll be a bit nit-picky... I'm not a huge fan of the girl's pose. Her dramatic head bend makes me want to crane my neck in that direction when I look at the photo.

Again, this is pretty picky but I thought I'd share my amateur opinion.

At first glance it all worked beautifully, but when i stopped and payed attention to details, there were a few little things, So colour wise, I love how rich and contrasting the photo is, a part of me finds the yellow leafs a tad to bright, mostly because yellow is the brightest colour in the colour wheel and the first to attract your eye, which means, it's fighting with your subject. So i'd keep it bright, but lower just a little bit of the intensity.

I think the children are adorable, I love there skin tone, well lit! the little girl need eye sharpening and a little bit less shadow under her eye. I also love the colour choice for there clothing, it works so well.

and for composition, I do prefer the look from further away, but at the same time, there position makes me feel awkward. the little boy's arm is oddly place...like if you backed up, he would be holding his dog, it just makes you wonder what he was doing.... And the little girl, makes my neck hurt, I cropped the picture to see if it would make a difference, and it seems to help a little bit, she looks more natural and comfortable, I just wish it wasn't so centered, but I couldn't figure how to not have it centered and it still looking right.

This how I would of done it, not saying it's better, but it takes care of some of the issues that didn't works as nicely.

So to be honest, most people would never know these things would be off, I just have 4 years of Art constructive criticism stuck in my brain, so you can do what ever you want with it. I've just been trained to share my opinion and learn from the work of others and my own. I do think that you take very beautiful photo's, just watch there body positions a bit more, you can fix lighting, colours, blemish, but you can't fix an awkward arm and such. I've made the mistakes more then once..lol

Anyway, I hope parts of this makes a little bit of sense
Keep up the good work!!!
