Please review the http://digital-photography-school.co...rum-rules.html.

It looks underexposed a bit to me. What is washed out?

Lori is correct, this image is not washed out, it is underexposed. Hats with big brims are problematic as the brim (or bill) keeps light out of the eyes, and in photography we NEED light in the eyes.

I read the rules. My appologies if I missed something.

Her hair and lips seem washed out to me. Though your underexposed comment is true. I took this photo before I learned how to play with shutter speed properly.

I like the fact that I can't see her eyes but you have a point. With no eyes, you can only get so much. Thanks!

I rather like the idea of this shot, even without seeing her eyes. I think she looks cool and underexposed. With a little tweaking, I think this could be a good shot!

the image is fine without the eyes...it's not the norm but it's still interesting...try shadow/highlights in photoshop...give it a little more fill light...the hair and lips isn't washed out, it's just brighter compared to the surrounding area thus the shadow/highlight should make it better at least... the smile is what is making the photograph works...

i'm new here...so take my point of view as one...

I basically made the edits that tyasa suggested...I still think the photo would work better with at least a glimpse of her eyes, but the brightening of the shadows certainly helps it out.
