Default First kid pic shot in manual

I just got a D90 and 50mm 1.4 lens. I am working on learning how to use both. I know this is a snapshot rather than a portrait, but he was still enough for me to fiddle with the settings in manual! I am not crazy about the composition. I was too busy worrying about focus and all the settings!
Questions for you....
How is the focus?
Exposure?
Skin tone/color?
Sharpening? I sharpened a little, but worry I did too much.
Any feedback is welcome. I appreciate your time!

f/1.6, 1/125, 50mm lens, ISO 200

I think it's great,
although you've picked up some dirt on the filter when changing lenses - oh, no sorry, that's pureed food! lol.
lovely capture, great DoF and focus, and not at all your typical snapshot.
Bonus marks for getting the foreground food to match the colour of the background blurr!

Nice job on nailing the focus with a f/1.6 aperture. That's definitely not an easy thing to do.

I agree - exposure, focus, and skin tones look great to me.

Focus is great--not too sharp at all. I've know some pros. who say that no matter how sharp their image is OOC, they still sharpen for portraits. I agree that this isn't a snapshot. Skintone looks good; the texture I want a napkin! Well shot.
