I was really hoping for a crisper image, but finally gave up. Any suggestions?

I am not sure what you mean by "crisper". I like the softness of the light. I do think i would like the image more if you expanded the space in front and above and cropped out the empty space behind you. Just a thought. If you are wanting more detail in the image, you may need more light.

You are looking out of the frame, move the image to the right so you are looking into the frame. Crisper ? If you don't thnk its sharp enough use the string trick to nail focus.

The main light was way too low. Shadows should run down not up. There is no receiving area. Your torso should have been to camera right a bunch and there should be more room above your head. Turning the torso away from the camera about 20 degrees or so will help make these type of image less static. The face of course is then brought back to the same position it is in now.

In your defense it is difficult to see what you are doing in front of the camera when you are not behind it!!!
