Unbelievable!!! I have been told that equipment is overrated and skill will win everytime. I have no doubt that you are a very skilled photographer......but I could never accomplish this image with my equipment no matter how hard I try. This is absolutely the image quality I strive for....and I'm sure that we all are. BRAVO!!!

Love it! The only nitpicks I have is that there's a slight pink color cast to her skin from the blanket, and I'd rather the catchlight in her right eye be a little more to the side. Other than that, pretty much darn near perfect.
Really beautiful work!

great shot. I especially love the color in the eyes. I too think the catch lights are just a touch to centered in the eyes. The symmetry in the background really drives home the framing of this beautiful little girl.

You heard right. I just got my MRK II a few months ago. Sure you can. It takes some knowledge. What equipment are you using? Quote:

I am still working on the skin color cast when colors are used. It only seems like it does that when I use pinks though . I still havnt figured that out. I am stumped. Any suggestions on how to fix that (in camera). One day it will be perfect lol. Quote:
Thanks her dad had really pretty blue eyes also. |

From what I've seen and read, it's pretty near impossible to fix it in camera - the cast is just there. I'll see if I can find a tutorial I read about removing color casts from skin.

First off, I think this is adorable.
Second it's the Magenta of CMYK. So you add a little green to get rid of the magenta color cast. I don't remember where I learned this. It was when I was looking for color correction help. And the technique used for skin was by numbers instead of what your eyes see. Your eyes will "auto" correct that image of the baby and say yes that it is correct until someone points out what is wrong. And eventually you'll see it "corrected" and you have that OHHH moment. In this case I actually like the pink baby. (IMO) But if you look up into the corner of the pic I assume the wall behind them is a shade of white and it has a magenta cast to it. BTW let me know if you want me to take down the edit. |

The picture also seems to have an overall blue-cyan cast to it. Making the picture a bit more yellow and red brings out quite a bit more color contrast (albeit the pink reflections consequently become more prominent). I don't know about web tutorials for fixing color casts on skin. But two books in particular are very useful, both by Dan Margulis: "Professional Photoshop 5ed" and "Photoshop LAB Color." Using his methods, you could build a mask using a high contrast version of the a channel in LAB, which will isolate the pink and make the color adjustments stronger/weaker where the cast is more/less pink. Personally, I'd live with the pink reflections |
