Default Black and White with a touch of color

I am new to photography. I love taking pictures and I am trying to get better at all aspects of photography. I would like as much guidence as possible. Thanks for any comments. I am using a Kodak Easy Share C182. I am not sure how to get all that extra information that is needed.

EXIF Data:
shutter speed: 1/60 sec.
Lens Aperture F/2.8
Focal Length 6mm
ISO Speed: ISO-250

Sorry that this was not posted before I wasnt sure how to get that information. I have now learned. Please let me know what I could have done to get the grainy look out of the photo.

What is it that you'd like critique on?

I will say that the shot is very grainy, and though maybe some people will disagree, the selective color thing is something I would steer away from unless you want to get into the tourist's postcard business.

Default Advice please

I would love any comments on what I could change and how. I am new to photography. I do photos out of my home. I know that there is a lot I could learn from. Thanks again for any advice given ahead of time.

hey, for the grain you may want to drop your ISO down some and play with the aperture/shutter speed until you get the right mix for that setting. Use the same lights you used or dont if you didnt until you get the desired look. I have no idea about your camera because I've never used that one. If you can adjust your ISO/Apeture/Shutter speed, I would just play with it some and get a feel for what works in that and each other setting. Before I do a shoot I try to get some pics in and make sure Im getting the desired affect/lighting/etc.

let us know what happens
Oh and I would write down what settings work best for what so you have a little cheatsheet for future reference,lighting,etc.

i totaly agree. I dont like that sort of colour one thing and make the rest back and white. looks to forced and was a fad for a while that is dying a death now. The shot is far to grainy and there also looks like a slight movement to the camera which has taken any sharpnes away.

Smile Thank You

I will definitly try to play with the settings to get the grainy look gone. I know that you do not think that the color thing is great but the mother of the child wanted the photo that way. That is not something I always do. I do this on request. I personally think it is cute if used in a good way. The slight movement was due to the baby wiggling. She was just learning to sit up and was still a bit shaky at it. Thanks everyone for the comments.

Just a thought on the grain. Depending on the software that you used to convert to BW, I know some of them attempt to mimic shooting with BW film so the software may have bumped the graininess up a bit in the conversion.
