Default Tired

Does this portrait work? Someone told me it looks creepy, I don't think so. I see a man that just lost his wife of 53 years, who is tired of everything. How is the exposure? I did process it to make it BW, but I like the conversion. Any thoughts? Is the background distracting the way that one side is much lighter than the other side?

Other than the forehead having a hot spot, its not bad...I might tone down the lighting on his face a bit
