Default First critique: Not all who wander are lost

Hey, i'm still Sorta New... But was hoping to get some critique on this photo. I'm very eagar to improve, so please give me some pointers

Not all who wander are lost

I really dont have much equipment.... I took this picture of my lil sister with my nice Canon point and shoot.... ive got photoshop, but im not very good at using it yet, I just barely got it for christmas.

the camera is new too.... I was afraid it white washed her face a little bit... Im tring to get use to the settings.... all the pictures I took that day made her hair really yellow, and were very saturated :/ this picure picture looks very touched up but all I really did was add black around the edges

Thanks for looking and for feedback

Welcome to DPS.

I love the far off look on her face and that she is well positioned in the frame. The moon 'I think that is what it is" is distracting to me.

Well done !

I Love this shot. The angle of her face is nice, maybe less hair-in-the-eyes but other than that this is a really good shot. Oh, and I thought the light spot in the middle was the light at the end of a tunnel. Hence the fact that her face is well lit and not by a point-and-shoot flash, but natural light, and you can kind of see the curve of the tunnel off to the left. Balances the shot nicely.

Happy shooting and yes, well done for a beginer.

(I'm new as well ;-) )

The light just to the left of her face is too distracting.

But, great expression, and I like the play of light (right side) and dark (left side) together in the image.

Default Thank you!

Yes, she is in a tunnel I agree about the hair... I will keep that and maybe alittle distance in mind next time.

the lighting was what I was most afraid of.... I took this the day after I got mey new camera and wasnt sure on the settings yet. Thanks for all the positive feedback about it though!! especially on the lighting, im glad that in general you didn't think the lighting was too bad! maybe I can figure out how to get rid of that white spot on the side of her head or tone it down.
It was one of the least over lighted of the photos, I love her face, even though it is a result of her pouting "kenna! I wanna ride my bike" :P

Thanks everyone!
