Always wanted to try one just using a single candle for light.
Any thoughts? how does it work? All C&C welcome.

I like the tone of the candle light, but to me we lose a little too much detail of that beard. I'd also play a bit more with the composition, as your pose looks a bit too centered and staid... along the lines of a passport photo.

I would place the candle at side. Maybe two candles on one side.

Hi Cody, I agree with Gaurav, it is a bit too dark and soft. Even though the candle light is a good effect it needs more clarity. I am not experienced enough a photographer yet to give you technical advice on how to achieve this but just keep experimenting.

What I have been doing is taking lots of shots with different settings and then looking through the exif data to see which ones worked for that particular scene and making a note to use those settings for a similar situation.

keep your backgrounds in mind... i can't really tell cuz whole photo is dark and muddy but it looks like u wearing a yarmulke that floating an inch above your scalp (maybe you are and if so then ignore)

also... whole image is very soft...
