Default Portrait taken in bright sunlight?

Hi guys, I would like to know if there is anything I can adjust or improve on in this picture, like perhaps composition etc. This is straight from the camera, no editing at all.
I'm fairly new to photography mainly only taking snaps, but have been a member on here for a while reading and trying to absorb as much info as I can, so a full critique will be welcome.

The photo looks good to me - a nice candid shot. The play of sunlight on the girl is very nice. Though I'd probably fill in the frame with more of the girl...the top section of trees seems a little like wasted space.

Otherwise - nice candid shot!

Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions Dave, it's greatly appreciated. I will crop out the extra trees and see how it turns out.

Cheers

Nice, bright color...but I agree with davewb on the crop. I look at her hat and then my eyes keep going upward.

Much better- the crop helps to focus on the candid emotions of the girl.
