I agree with the above posters. The face is way overexposed and all detail has been lost. I'd love to see a SOOC version. Can you post your EXIF per the critique forum rules?

Well, I'm very sorry but I don't really remember what my camera was set on. My son and I was just walking up the driveway and he turned around and I shot the image. It was probably ISO 100, F2.5 (I think), No flash. And yes, I did desaturate it in Photoshop.

The camera remembers for you. Go to the flickr page and click more properties along the right side. Or go into photoshop and click file>file info.

I'll be brutally honest. I like it. True there are some things with the image that are technically wrong (over exposure on the face), but I'm all about breaking rules and trying to be creative. Many times these rules are broken on accident, but the resulting images can be quite inspiring. Personally, I wouldn't change a thing about this image, and I'd tell everyone that this es exactly how you want this image to look.

I have a few of these kinds of photos of mine and they are cool to have. It's preference really, but sometimes you want some different effects
Especially when you're taking a million pictures of the same kids (your own) like we do.~C

I like it, too. I would just prefer to see a bit more of his eyes. But, that's a minor issue.
For me, this photo has plenty enough contrast as it is, and the loss of detail in the face doesn't bother me. Now, I wouldn't want a memory card full of photos like this, but for an occasional, different shot, I think this style works quite well. My 2 cents.
