Candid Portrat Flash or No Flash

That is a great shot of her eyes. Man, I can never get my little ones to stop even that long sometimes. Shadows are a problem, but otherwise, it looks great. Did you postprocess the eyes at all?

is not the point of a candid to not be technically perfect. if it was it would look to staged and not be a candid even if it was. i have shadows in all kinds of pics of my kids and they are some of my all time fav pics. not the best pic but first i found with shadow on face

There's no real right or wrong here - you just use flash if it's needed, or if you prefer (perhaps you're after a certain effect).

The only thing about using a flash when you're taking candid photos is that people will be more aware of you.

I can't remember if I did or not, if I did it would have been minimal I dislike over-processed looking eyes.
