Default help plzzz

hello every one.. hope every one had a good holiday... i did these pix for a friend of mine and i really love this one... but.... i need help with getting it to look better... the lighting was bad and my speed-light did not bounce off the ceiling caz it was a wood one...so any help would be awesome.. thx so much

The lines in the BG are off to me. I would have tried shooting this straight on to the subject. It also looks like you got a strong window source to camera right. Having someone hold a white poster board or other reflective surface on the other side would have allowed you to lift the shadows a little bit from the other side.

Also, tell him to put his hat on straight. My son does that all the time and I tell him to correct it immediately. I guess some things from the military never leave you.

I attempted to straighten the lines and remove the clutter from the top of the picture. But a re-shoot would do a heck of a lot better than any PP. If you could shoot him stright on at about the same height and keep the lines straight.

I really like this shot. It has a lot of potential.

What a sweet photo! I love the concept (I'm a total lab lover )

I hope you don't mind that I took the liberty to edit this.
I cropped it and lightened the shadows just a tad. Also added a little bit of contrast. I think the cropping is the key. There's too much distracting things going on above the actual subject, you need to get rid of those.



The second photo is lovely too. I love the big smile But the distracted puppy is a little distracting.
