Not sure portraits was the right place for this. I took this after a day of fishing in Punta Allen Mexico. Could I get some comments on Lighting and if it should be cropped at all.

Such a sweet picture! Maybe you could try cropping off the bit from the left, beyond the left-most tree? That part is kind of busy/distracting, compared to the child and the boat on the right. It'd also put more of the focus on the girl.

Hi!

I think that the place was perfect for portrait. You can very interesting foreground and background. But I would wait until approx. 1hr before sundown to have softer natural light and I would zoom in in the future. For this picture I would definitely crop to include to boat on the right and try to include the girl in about 1/3 of the frame to the left.
