Default Looking Up

I took this photo of my nephew with my new f/1.8 50mm lens. It's an amazing lens and I love using it!!
EXIF: 50mm, f/2.8, 1/50 sec, ISO200, Manual
Please critique exposure, composition, and anything else worth mentioning. Thanks!!

Your picture is way too big! The rules state 740 pixels on the largest side. I changed your image over into a link. Please fix and re-embed. Thanks!!

I went through the link and had a look and it looks either oof, or noisy?

I see your iso is 200 - did you hand hold this or use a tripod? Maybe a bit of camera shake?

The background is distracting - even though you threw it out of focus, you can still see the solid colours.

I like it - I think you caught the essence of the kid - a lovely well mannered boy - with perhaps a little cheeky side :-)

One can't always arrange backgrounds to suit the photo. Personally I love busy, chaotic backgrounds - it helps to contextualise the image and narrate a story.

although this is not a clear concise photo I absolutely love it. It works for me and it is a pic your family will cherish down the road.
