Default Apprehensive, but here goes . . .

I'm back, and feeling a little bummed. I have a limited amount of light because of the winter weather so I'm stuck using my 50mm with large apertures. It's the only way I can get a shutter speed fast enough to capture these little rascals! I plan on ordering some lighting from Alien Bees, but have to wait until February. That aside, I submit yet another for critique, knowing that it is far from perfect. I'm looking for comments on lighting, black and white conversion and posing and whatever jumps out and grabs you. Thank you so much for taking the time to look!

First thing that jumps out at me is that it could use more contrast.

So, I boosted the contrast a little. Is this better?

Your original is unavailable, but in the 2nd one that's showing...

Lighting: gorgeous
BW conversion: gorgeous
Expression: priceless!

Looks like you nailed this one to me! Love the catchlights, too. I'm jealous, I wish I had such great window light!

BTW, you're gonna love your AB's when you get them!

I think you did a wonderful job on this shot. I am only seeing the second shot but it looks awesome to me. Now I just need to learn to take shots like that! Love the expression.

Thank you for the encouragement! I'm sorry, I accidentally deleted the original (oops!).

Second shot looks gorgeous. Really great focus on his eyes.
