long time lurker 1st time poster. Was looking at this picture and was trying to keep the eyes as tack sharp as possible. Missed the Eyes and focus point was just under the eye. Was hoping it didn't kill the shot. Practicing shallow DOF.
![]() Model - Canon EOS 50D ExposureTime - 1/80 seconds ExposureProgram - Aperture priority ISOSpeedRatings - 640 ApertureValue - F 1.80 MaxApertureValue - F 1.4 Flash - Flash fired, Compulsory flash mode FocalLength - 50 mm I desaturated the image in Lightroom for that sudo B&W look. Have another pic in this series but will wait a few days as per stickied post. |

I think that with a proper focus it would be a very nice photo. However, missing that I feel that it's just missing the point.
Little kids are difficult to shoot, and the larger they get the faster they run. Keep practicing and I'm sure you'll come up with some great shots!

Cute girl, You did good with the shallow dof. I agree about the focal point being a little off but it's still a sweet image. Look forward to seeing some more.

The focus was missed but you can fix that more that one might suspect. I hope you don't mind my posting a slightly adjusted version.
I applied a high pass filter sharpen method and masked out everything but the eyes and just a subtle reveal of the lips and nostrils. Smart sharpen and unsharp mask will get you subtly different results that may or may not work better. |
