Default Black and White Portrait, composition help?

Hi, I am new to the website and just getting started in digital photography. I am not looking to become a "pro" but want to take good pictures instead of just snapshots. This was an attempt at a black and white of my daughter sleeping. The light is from the window in the room. The only pp is fill lighting, the picture was originally in color and I created the glow. I am looking for help with composition mostly and lighting. Anything else that you have to contribute would be greatly appreciated as well. Thanks in advance for all of your help.

I would have tried this at a different angle. The whole looking up the nose thing is never flattering.
Watch the sunlight and shadows as well. The harsh lines from the shadows can be a disaster.

Next time I'll try an angle more toward the top of the head. I see what you mean about the shadows, would lightening this more in pp be enough or do I just need to make sure there are no big shadows at all like this next time? Thanks for the help. I appreciate the cc.

You can fix the shadows in post but it isnt easy. I'd opt for a new shoot where the shadows arent so harsh

Another thing you might want to try is to put up a white sheet or white shower curtain or something else at the window to help diffuse the light. This would help with the blown out highlights and dark shadows.
