Could someone tell me what the heck is wrong with this?
I think theres too much orange..
She had a naturally dark tan, i think there was some fake tan thrown in there.. either way.... the orange tractor, frame, and skin just don’t mix.
Does the skin look OK to you?

Dies it look skew?
I don’t think the rolbar (rectangle frame behind her) was constructed “square” and i was standing off to the left of the tractor anyhow.

i aligned the right hand bar as being vertical... to the frame.. but now the cross bar at the top and left look skew too.

model on tractor

EXIF
Exposure: 0.005 sec (1/200)
Aperture: f/4.5
Focal Length: 62 mm
ISO Speed: 100

It was under shade,
SB24 high and right in 45” backed softbox umbrella for some contouring of the face
Sb600 behind her for hairlight.. hardly noticeable
Sb28 on fired on the back of the barn wall to bring out some details rather than having a black hole.

candleman,

If anything, I'd say the orange part of the tractor at the bottom of your photo is the main distraction. I would select that specific area of orange in Photoshop and play with the intensity of it or even desaturate it a bit so that it is more like the tone of the orange square in the background.

I also agree with you that the orange square does not appear to be level on all sides of your shot. It may not be as noticeable if you did not crop so close to it. You might also want to try rotating your crop selection just before cropping the photo to try and find a happy medium with keeping the box and model vertically level.

Her skin tone does not bother me too much. However, her right arm does appear do be a little orange. This may be because she is catching light reflecting from a part of the orange tractor on her arm, thus giving it an orange-ish cast. Nothing you can't fix in Photoshop

I've never worked with lightpainting. I always do a selection and then either work in levels or in "selective color". Glad I could help.

Nice work Candleman. If you look at a picture you'll always find something you would like to change, but I still think this is a nice well taken shot.

It would make a killer head shot.

Thanks for sharing.
