Default Outdoor Portrait--Beginner

Hi Everyone,

New photographer here.... Just getting more serious. Took this shot of my nephew and his best friend when we were camping. I like to call it "Modern Day Tom Sawyers".... Let me know what you think....

Per the critique forum guidelines, please ask specifically what you would like critique on. Also, include the EXIF if you have it available. Thanks.

Coming from a complete amateaur, I would crop it down and bring up the colors a little to show off his red hair........only my humble opinion. They are cuties....

Alright, sorry about that..... More specifically I would like the composition (the rock and faces) and lighting critiqued. This shot was taken about two years ago so I'll do my best with specifics:

Pentax K110D
50mm
f5.6
1/500 sec.

Thats about all I remember....

I'm a feel person: Tthese are real dudes!:-)

You could; crop severely, blacken the BG or use selective blurring- as far as I'm concerned - not drawn to the land scape here.

I LOVE the rock; that's what boys/kids do: stick their little discoveries right in your face ! I love this. I like journalism, and captures...Keep it real
