Default Lit Up

Did a quick little photo shoot with my kids last night while putting lights on the tree. I lightened up his face a little bit and of course converted it to black and white.

What do you think of the composition? post production work? Anything you would do differently?

Well for starters, your son is adorable. I can't wait till my boys get that big.

This is just a personal opinion since I'm far from being as good a photographer as I'd like to be. But his face gets lost in the picture to me. It might be because it's so far at the top of the picture and not lit enough. His legs draw my eyes and seem to dominate the photo. Perhaps if he was holding the lights around his head some how, or maybe cropped a bit differently? Very cute idea though. i wish his smile and happiness came through a bit more. It gets lost for me.

I like the composition. However, I might have backed up just a bit so as to not cut off his head and foot.

I really like the idea you have going here. I would get some more light (a little fill light) on his face, though. That should really be the focal point of this shot.

I liked the idea very much but i would have loved it if i could see more of your son, i mean if your son had some more light on him.
And i would have cropped it a bit differently so as not to leave any of his part out.

*I got a 50mm and I know it's not easy getting what/where you'd like with a prime:-)
I'd love this if maybe just a bulb's light was close to his face, that's all. I love natural.
