Default Young model

This is my eldest Daughter. I shot her with a White background and cut her out and pasted her onto this background. I never used the lights to go with the background so it did cast a few shadows. What I would really like to know is. Does the whole image look too fake ?

The background is fine but unfortunately her pose is rather awkward. Also, I would perhaps make her pop out a bit more; she seems a bit flat.

To me it looks as tho she is standing in front of a painting, so u have done well to place her on the image...I agree with whats been said before that the way she is standing looks a little awkward and I think she would look better in a softer more natural pose.

I like taking pics in front of white walls to change background but instead of placing the subject on top of a different background I add different things to her background and then play with the blending options. I also like to put a texture on top heres an example

Peace on Flickr - Photo Sharing!

This seems a bit too fake for my preference. The thing that bugs me is the mismatch of lighting, i.e., she's lit from the front, but then I see the moon in the background and assume that if this was natural, the lighting would be coming from that direction.

I'd suggest darkening her a tad bit, and adding a ring-type lighting effect around her edges like she's standing in the moonlight.

Matched lighting is one of those tricky things you'll to have to deal with when adding new backgrounds, but practice makes perfect.

You're on a good track. Keep it up.

Thank you for you comment. I've placed her on a few others too.

A small tip when it comes to doing composites is that you find the background before you shoot the shot, so you can properly plan your perspective and lighting, if not it will - always - end up looking rather cheap.

You did a OK masking job, but as mentioned since the contrast, lighting etc doesnt match, it doesnt look real.
