Default Portrait of a Red-Haired Friend

Hello fellow photographers!

Please could you take some time to critique my un-processed portrait of a friend of mine?

Is the skin tone correct?
Is the exposure over/under?

Is there anything you would do in post-processing to improve?

EXIF Settings:

Camera: Olympus E-500
Lens: 40-150mm f3.5-4.5 Olympus E-Zuiko Digital

Focal Length: 128mm
f-stop : f4.3
Exposure Time: 1/40 sec
ISO: 200

Looks ok to me.

I would crop it to remove some of the useless space left.

really nice shot. It would be nice if the division between the two texture/colors of the background walls didn't run through his head. I think there is too much space above his head.

Hello there, thanks for your input on this, I agree actaully - a little bit of cropping to tighten it up a little, and I wish now that I gave him some space to look into on the RHS of the image. Bit of post-processing is in order! Watch this space...

Yes, agree absolutely. Now I look at it, a little more room for him to look into, and a slightly blurrier (is that even a word?) background may have helped to tighten this shot up a little. Hey thanks for the constructive criticism, I really appreciate you taking the time to put your ideas across.

I agree about the wasted space, also I would have shot it differently. To me he looks uncomfortable.

I just realized that all of that head space gives one a "Little Ceaser-ish" stature-lol - and that could be useful in some instance ! However:
Do you see how the shot is tilted to the left? look at the wall lines.
You seem to have got the sweater in better focus than the face too, just a thought there, maybe you wanted it that way?
