So I'm very new to photography and I am becoming overwhelmed with all there is to know. I took these photos on Thanksgiving of my little one and her cousin playing in the backyard. There's a variety of portrait, in motion, still etc. Please help me learn how to improve and maybe what could have been done differently!
Please and Thanks! Last edited by windrider86; 11-28-2009 at 06:32 PM. Reason: removed extra images |

Please check out the guidelines so you'll know what to include and or not to include within your posts. txs
For this one, try and pay attemtion to what you are seeing in your frame. Cutting playing children off at the knees doesnt work so well. Try and fill more of your frame with the child. The background color is great! Learning all this photograpgh stuff can be overwhelming if you let it. Dont try and soak it all in all at once. Pick a subject, any subject and concentrate on that until you have it down and then move on to something else

Hi there and "Welcome" to a great community and site where you will have no problem getting any advise or help you feel you might need for a while. First of all remember one thing, there is no exact science to photography. There are ways and means to make images more interesting and beautiful but that like most things comes with time and experience. Don't worry about how your images are coming out to start with try and decide what it is you like about them and work from there. Remember every excellent photographer on this site (and there are many) all started from the same place you are now so stop worrying ok
![]() If I were you I would work on one thing at a time, like "Composition" your image has some beautiful colors and light in it, but it's a shame you cut this little lady off at the knees, so next time frame your main subject a little better and try to work in an interesting angle. There are plenty of video links and lessons on You Tube which can help with any number of method's in photography so just slow down and remember that no one on here became a brilliant photographer over night. Enjoy your time with the camera, get to know it and how all it's functions work and what they all do then when your more relaxed with it I am sure you will achieve even better results. I look forward to seeing more soon. Good Luck and have fun ok. David.
