Default Valdez Contemplating

I like this one. It's mainly about composition since it was point-and-shoot, using built-in flash. I've applied red eye reduction and removed a background item in photoshop. Is it okay to crop out the arm (except for hand)? Is the image too dark (I thought the subdued lighting/colors enhance the mood)? What do I do to make it a really good foto?

The eyes still have a lot of red in them.

The hand wouldn't bother me if it were closer to the skin tone of his face. Their so much different it almost looks like someone elses hand.

The face is nice and sharp, and I like the mood of the shot.
