Hello all,

My 1st post to the group. I am trying to learn without the use of post production and heavy photoshop use, as I want to take good shots more consistantly straight out the camera.(where possible). anyway here goes.

What do you think?

Paul this wasnt my 1st day but ! I have only had my D40 for 1.5 weeks. Taken 1400 shots testing and playing with it. I hav'nt had a good explore with it ye,t but I will post all the results as I do

The wide angle distorts the child's face,the right side of his face is shadowed and the background is distracting. The shot is also very soft. I would consider learning PP skills as you learn to take photos as they will compliment each other and your photos will improve much quicker.

Cheers Armando,
A bit more info for you.
The pic was taken with the nikor kit lense not a wide angle lense? (does this matter?)
I think the shot is quite crisp, the softness of colour came from the light in the room.
