Default Low-key Self-portrait

I took this one today specifically for the weekend challenge here on DPS, but I wanted to get some critique on it as well. It's my first attempt at low-key lighting. I snooted my 430EX II, and placed it front of the camera and to camera right - as if that couldn't have been figured out.

Low-key Self-portrait

EXIF Info:
Camera: Canon Rebel XS
Lens: Canon 70-200mm f/4L IS USM
Shutter Speed: 1/200s
Aperture: f/13
ISO: 100
Focal Length: 70mm

I'm looking for critique on the lighting mostly. Also, does the photo strike you as emotional at all? But, any other constructive criticism would be much appreciated.

Nate I really like the lighting and the mood that the lighting sets.
As for the emotion, there is emotion in the shot.
But it comes across to me as confused.
You seem to be closed of to the world in deep thought yet by having your leg open and your hand open. You seem to be open to suggestion. So half open half closed if you know what I mean.JUst what I see and feel.
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the comments. I'll be giving this technique some more time and effort.

I think the lighting style looks great and for me I get the feel of emotion.

I like the lighting and the emotion. The emotion is a sad, lonely look - but not hostile, which goes with the lighting IMO
