Took these of my son on bonfire night. What I would like to know is the window distracting. any other cc welcome.

Yeah, the window is a distraction - even before I read your post, when I opened up the thread, the first thing I saw was the window, then noticed the little boy (who is adorable, btw).
The lighting from the flash is pretty harsh and makes his hair blend in with the background. You can read up on ways to diffuse your flash to avoid this and create a softer light. Also, being nitpicky, but his fingers are chopped off. You can try cropping a bit tighter (between the wrist and elbow, maybe?) to make it a bit more aesthetically pleasing. A few tweaks in post processing and this could be really pretty good.
