Default close crop

im experimenting with getting closer to my subject and cropping closer..is this to close or should i have gotten closer??

I like the crop. Any tighter and it would be too tight. I'd actually leave a little more room on the right for her to look into. If you wanted to keep it as a square crop, try cropping in closer to the back of her head and leaving more room on the right - as it is, she's kind of dead center.

I agree with Susan. I also think this picture is lacking a focus point. With her wearing the dark sunglasses and looking away from the camera (without knowing what she's looking at), I feel like there is no life to it.

Also, there is a lot of detail in her hair lost in the shadows...I did a shadows adjustment and some of those details came back:
