Hi all !

It was difficult to take a photo of my cousin Philip , he was running around all the time

I was wondering How can I improve the photo? I want to give it to his parents as a present, but simply I can't do much about it it because I don't know much. I tried something in GIMP, but unfortunately I don't know what exactly I did. Sorry!
I wanted it to be BW but it doesn't look good. Also, the sky bothers me, actually the whole background! Can anything be done with it?

I am pretty new here but I thought I would throw in my $0.02.

I have been experimenting with Gimp as well, I love it. Something I was able to do with a picture of my sister was to cut her out and make a seperate layer of her, change the background, and then overlay her in so that I was able to adjust the background lighting without messing with the colors on her. It took some time, but the end result saved the picture in my opinion.

No matter what, just remember that they will love it because it is a picture of their little man
