Post New Model Portrait

Brandi Fashion Shot

Hello every one. Would like some feedback on this recent portrait I did of a model/actress friend of me. Any input on my lighting style, composition and camera settings would be appreciated.

*It was an extremely intense bright day. I had a light meter and I was getting a f-32 on the ambient light, hence the shutter speed setting.

*Used (1) Nikon sb-600 at 1/1 ratio as my only light source.

Camera: Nikon D40
Exposure: 0.001 sec (1/1000)
Aperture: f/5.6
Focal Length: 75 mm
Exposure: 0.00
ISO Speed: 200

the eye is immediately drawn to the neck and chest area of the model (no, not like that!) due to the fact that this is the lightest area. Her clothes are also not particularly flattering. I think the lighting setup looks good, however I would have been more inclined to compose a tighter shot on the face and/or using a different angle (this one possibly too head-on?)
I like the hair effect !

nice photo otherwise

I agree. The eye is drawn to the neck and chest area because of the light. I think the face could be a bit more exposed. The shadows on her face kind of detract from the portrait. Maybe crop in a little more on the face and lighten up the shadows somehow. Otherwise, the pose is nice. I like the way she's looking slightly out of frame.
I no expert, so take my advice as such. I think it's a nice shot with a lot of potential.

Hey smithr99. I wasn't to fond of her jacket but without it I think the blouse would have been to revealing. Now that I look at the lighting perhaps I should have had a reflector to add a tint of light to her face or I should have used a small soft box. Thank you for the input.
