Default First try of daughter

beautiful

Only data I have (cause it didnt show me on flickr for some reason) is...
Manual Exp.
1/250
ISO-640

I tried taking pics of my daughter today, after about 15 min she was done! This is one of my favorites and I wanted to get everyones input on here becuase I rspect all the talented people on heres opinion.I was wondering if this picture should be darker. She was only holding poses for 2 secondes so is this sharp enough, and do you like the monochrome color. Thank everybody in advance!

Nice expression of the face, cute kid. Personally I think sepia dont work like this, it seems the tree trunk is getting more details than your daugther, secondly, i dont know if this was a cropped pic or not but try to include the hands as well, it would add more feel to the pic with her gripping/hugging/holding? the tree. I've "heard" this advise somewhere, "not to crop the subject on the limb, because it'll spoil the composition".

i've re-cropped it at a different size..what do you think..?

Hi there, I think it's a very cute shot, I think she probably has too much space above her head and the focus is on the tree instead of her face....I know how hard it is to get the focus right with little ones tho -they're so quick!!

This is why I ask on here, all these things I dont see...your right about the cut off hand...however reading critiques on here all the time, i knew it would be an issue...something I need to work on. I think ill go back to the drawing board and start over with this one, the more I look at it the more I dont like it.
Thanks for the input!

Default it's hard

Kids are so cute but way too quick...darn things, why can't they let us capture all that cuteness? I find I have to shoot in shutter priority with my 4 year olds unless I've sat them somewhere and bribed them to sit still for more than 10 seconds. I've started paying them with quarters to let me take pictures of them
