Default Photos for My Friends

A couple of my friends don't have many photos together. I agreed to do some shots for them (sort of a pre-engagement photoshoot) and here are a few of the results:

I've only been shooting for about 10 months and most of my photography is city/urban and landscape stuff, so this is quite the change for me. I am getting more and more people asking me if I can shoot an event/portraits, etc. so this may be the direction I am moving in. Any critique for this newbie is appreciated -- please do not hold back!

Focusing the critique just on the image above, I would suggest cropping to a wider format. I can see the idea of them being apart but seeing each other and finding an attraction and I imagine this continues in your series of photos. At present, however, there is a lot of space above them. That would be okay if the barn door were the subject but, as it is not, cropping down to a letterbox would focus the story more clearly on crossing the divide between them.

Could you also tell us a little about the equipment and settings you used for this shot?

Thanks,

Wulf

I like the photos. they are pretty good individually. have you considered making a montage?

I think you need to reduce the space above the 2 main subjects of your photographs.......you see the attention almost diverts from the main subjects (which is not nice i suggest that some cropping should do the trick....
Secondly, i think there is a bit too much space between the subjects.....a bit closer won't hurt and you'd still be maintaining your idea......

Btw...i like the way you have done it....a little tweaks will make this photo look a lot better.....
Hope this helps

this is just super minor, but too me he looks soft/fuzzy.
i like the concept of the photo and she really stands out but he gets lost a little bit and for some reason on my monitor he looks to have a bit of blur.
