Hello all, this is my second post to the forums and was curious what everyone thought of this picture. Critique on my composition, focus and exposure would be great!
Camera: Canon EOS Digital Rebel XSi Exposure Time: 1/200sec Aperture: F/5.6 Focal Length: 50 mm ISO Speed: ISO-100 Metering Mode: Spot Background: This photo is of my daughter. She's almost 6months old in this photo and last Saturday 10/10/09 was the first snow fall we had and the first she saw so we got a picture to record the moment. ![]() Larger Size |

Your daughter is very lovely, indeed!
Everything to me is fine except the composition. Putting her in the very centre to me looks boring, and the tree and the fence in the back are kind of distracting. You may put a toy beside her to add some interests to the image. Also, you may consider lower or rise your viewpoint and zoom in on her a little bit. Still a very good shot though!

Thank you both for your comments. I will consider adding a toy in future pictures. I see the difference that the saturation and contrast boost does. Thanks! The image I posted was straight from the camera without any manipulation. It's always good to get other people's ideas of how I can make a picture better in both original composition and post processing. :-)
Thanks again! |

Cute pic. I think the saturation boost helped. Since the surroundings (snow/leaves) are relevant in this picture, I think lightening the exposure of the surrounding to match the baby would be helpful as well. I also think you could crop it vertically and still get the leaves/snow in the shot, but with the baby more prominent.
