Default My Son..

It's been a while since I've posted and since I've really been able to use my camera. My son Owen just celebrated his 1st Birthday so I've taken a lot of pictures recently. This one picture I took I am in love with. This was right before he took his afternoon nap; he's so sleepy. I didn't do much to it other than crop out some of the background. I DO wish I could do something to the red bib sticking out. Maybe I'll play around with the picture some more. I'm looking to see if there is anything I need to do to make it better or is it fine as is. I'm open to all suggestions/critiques!

I love his expression, he looks sleepy (: My recomendation would be to brighten up the shot, its way to dark.... other than that its adorable (:

[QUOTE=GoukisGirl; I DO wish I could do something to the red bib sticking out.

I am very new at editing, so I hope you don't mind me practicing a bit on this shot, what a cutie.

As mentioned the shot is a bit dark, and the red fabric in the background is a bit distracting. Other than that its a great shot.

Thank you and I am glad that you enjoyed my edit. Here is a tip, when editing shots such as these(kids) try and avoid the urge to soften the subject.

Armando, thanks for the tip I will remember that. In my 2nd edit I did not soften skin, though it does look like I did.

I deleted the red bib, and I then lightened it just a bit.

It just does not pop like your edit does though. hmmh....

Try dodging the eyes a bit as well as increasing the vibrancy a bit. Also a 35% sharpen layer will help. As well as masking and darkening the background a bit.
