Default Too Warm?

[IMG][/IMG]

I am asking about color here. Is this too warm? Is it my monitor? Obviously it was that juicy golden hour light but we are getting really close to red here.

Shutter 1/640
Aperture 5.3
Focal 150mm
Bias 0
ISO 800

2 questions.
What is the best way to utilize but not exploit the this type of lighting?
In post, what is the best way to correct the image if it is salvageable?

While shooting, you need to adjust your white balance. You could have dropped both your ISO and your shutter speed, too.

Did you shoot in RAW? If so it'll be an easy fix. If not, you can still fix it but it will be a bit trickier. What editing software are you using?

Thats IT! The white balance and ISO.
I didn't switch when I moved locations.
She was a runner! How low would you have gone on the Shutter Speed?
For the time being I have downloaded GIMP. I can't find my license number for my Photoshop.

Adjusting the white balance in post processing will take care of the problem quickly. Most PP software has a white balance control. For any that don't you can simply adjust your color balance. I personally would leave it a little warm to convey the time of day. but you can adjust to your liking. Here is an example of toning it down but still leaving it a little warm. If you want me to take this down let me know.

Hi

Nice shot!! A cherub

Adjusting white balance should do the trick to get the color right. I feel by lowering the shutter speed u could afford a low ISO to get a sharper pic. 1/250 I think should be good to avoid any blur. I have taken the liberty to edit the pic....I will delete the pic if its not o.k with u.

Adjusting overall white bal with the first, gives it a cool tone.

If u r looking to preserve the glow of the sunset, I think you can lower the saturation according to what suits u best (as in 2nd pic).

Hope this is useful

Don't ever feel intimidated to post - I learned almost everything I know from DPS! The only stupid questions are the ones NOT asked!

You're off to a great start and I look forward to seeing more from you.
