Default First BnW post

This is a cropped photo...would like to know if the crop is o.k or too tight How would you rate this photo(overall) ??

I think the crop works with this image.

Over all, I'd say you did good. Might have tried to get a little more light in his eyes, but sometime you have to work with what you have.

Thank you for your time and feedback. Was working with only natural light and as you rightly said sometimes we have to make do with what's available. Sun was behind me...probably having him look more towards the right of the cam might have helped with the darkness around his eyes ?!

Hmm...nice shot....i like the way the stripes of his shirt add to the contrast of the image..good work..

Hey Abhi, good one, perfect for B&W. Just want to nit-pick on the crop, I would have probably cropped it a little bit(just a lit bit) more of head room.

And also my eye is trying to fit this image into a standard ratios. Its a not a square nor any of the other regular sizes. There is no rule for it, but just seems odd to do that to portrait shot. Maybe its just me.

Thank you for your compliment ....its always encouraging.

I cropped the photo using freeform (didn't give it much thought at the time)...so if I understood you rightly,you would suggest sticking to standard crop ratios for portraits??
