Default Playing with Shadows

I was going for dramatic lighting with this shot, trying to use off camera flash angled from bottom left onto his face to look like the sun which was coming in from behind the windows. Does it work? I was aiming for lots of contrast, are the highlights too bright?

As the 'model' is actually someone I harassed into standing there trying to look natural, I'd like some advice on how to relax and pose them (I'm so stressed about getting the lighting or composition right that I tend to leave them to it) or comments about whether this 'pose' works.

Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated.

It's OK, but the higlights on the right side of his face are too bright and distracting for me. To be honest, my eyes focused on the blue sky through the openings, long before it got to him. I would try to light him better or crop out some of the bright window openings.
