Default Rabbi at the western wall

a picture i took of a rabbi by the western wall in the old city of jerusalem from my trip to israel back in may, i like it but there is just something that feels "wrong" i cant put my finger on it.

this is the unedited version of it

Rabbi

Fujifilm finepix S1000fd (my old camera)
exposure - 1/2000
aperture - F5
ISO - 1600

The other man standing over his left shoulder is what distracts me. Doesn't enable the rabbi to stand out by himself. You could have tried a different angle to block that person from view or use a shorter focal length to blur out the background.

i like the change but im not sure about the loss of definition on the rocks and notes, but i still think it makes the piece better.

That definitely improved the image. I can see the pattern in the rock that was used to clone the guy out, but most users wouldn't study that part of the wall close enough to see it.

The cloning helps, but I still feel like the rabbi blends into the wall behind him. Unfortunately, I'm not sure of the solution.

I'm thinking a shallower depth of field would have solved this problem. Maybe at about 2.8 he would really stand out. I like the cleaned-up background, although I know sometimes you just have to work with what is there.
